Prague is not only a beautiful city but it is only 1 hour 50 minutes away from London making it an easy destination to visit for a weekend. Whether you are wanting a fun-filled time with friends or a romantic trip to the city, Prague looks like something out of a fairytale! I visited Prague with a group of friends and we had the best time, you can walk to most places so it is easy to explore and it saves you from having to get on buses and trains to get around. Check out our guide on some of the best things to do in Prague.
Segway Tour
If you haven’t been on a Segway you need to do this in Prague, it is so fun and you get to learn about the history of Prague. It is a much faster and more fun way of getting from place to place. We did a 2-hour tour and that was enough to take in a lot of the key highlights.
Sunset Boat Tour or Dinner Cruise
After a full day of walking, you may want to get off your feet and hop on board one of the many riverboats that tour the River Vltava. Sunset is my favourite time of day and is a great way to see all the magical architecture come to life! Or alternatively, take a dinner cruise and take in Prague's illuminated castles and cathedrals!
Try the Czech Beers
The Czechs claim to have some of the best beers in the world so it wouldn’t be right to visit Prague without trying it out. You can visit the Prague Beer Museum where they have 31 quality beers on tap or stop by ‘The Beer Spot’ where you will find 120 beers from Czech and foreign craft breweries!
Check Out the Rooftop Bars
One of the best things to do in Prague is to admire it from above. There are plenty of fantastic rooftop bars where you can admire the skyline and have a cocktail!
Terasa U Prince which you will find on the 5th floor of Hotel U Prince does fantastic cocktails and is open all year round!
Duplex is one of the city’s most famous clubs and one of the best rooftop bars! It is a beautiful spot whether you want lunch, dinner or to dance the night away!
Cloud 9 Sky Bar has stunning views of the Vltava River and is situated at the top of the Hilton Hotel. It has a glamourous feel and is the perfect place to watch the sun go down over the city with nibbles and your favourite tipple!
Explore The Old Town
The Old Town is at the heart of Prague’s historic centre and is full of colourful buildings, gothic architecture, cafes & restaurants and much much more!
If you don’t mind climbing 186 steps up a narrow winding staircase then head to the Powder Tower at the entrance of the Old Town, once you get to the top you will be rewarded with some incredible views of the city!
Then take a trip to the Old town Hall and if you have time take a tour so you can visit the underground, hidden rooms and dungeons of the hall!
Another must-do is the ‘Church of our lady before tyn’ – this was actually the source of inspiration for the Sleeping Beauty castle in the Disney Magic kingdom!
If you like shopping, head to the Havel Market where you can purchase everything from wooden toys to leather purses or baked goods! The market is open every day until 6.30 pm.
Visit a Museum
There are nearly 280 museums in Prague, there is a museum for everything ranging from sombre historical museums to art galleries and you can even visit a museum that educates you on toilets or beer!
The Jewish museum is one of the most visited and pays tribute to the history & struggles of the Jewish people across history. The museum of communism offers an in-depth look into the communist regime and what life was like behind the iron curtain for many years.
If you are after something a bit more light-hearted then try the Sex Machine museum of the Apple museum (the technology company created by Steve Jobs, not the fruit!)
Prague Nightlife
Prague is the lively capital city of the Czech Republic and with cheap beer and music on every corner, you can’t go wrong!
There are over 600 bars and 100 nightclubs in Prague and in more recent times dedicated cocktail bars have been added to the Prague nightlife scene too. Czechs have always had a close tie to live music from concerts performed by Mozart or popular DJs on the club scene you have the chance to experience any type of genre of music.
Head down to Naplavka riverfront where many of the tunnels are constructed as bars and restaurants with live music! If you want to dance all night check out Roxy or SaSaZu!
Top Tip: Ditch the heels, the cobblestones of Prague are not high heel friendly!
Don’t spend any less than 3 days here in Prague, there is so much to do and see and it really is one of my favourite European cities, you will not be disappointed!
